In living our values of care, celebration, equity, leadership and transformation, the Board and staff of Regional Arts Victoria accept the invitation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
As the next step in a national reconciliation journey, we support a YES vote in the October 14 referendum on whether to alter the Australian Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.
Addressing power imbalances and embedding hope in current and future generations, the Voice aligns with our ongoing respect for First Nations Peoples and the Traditional Custodians and Elders of the lands where we work and play right across Victoria. We acknowledge continuing connection to culture on these lands for more than 65,000 years.
We know there are diverse views on the referendum question and urge respectful conversation as individuals make informed decisions about their vote. Whatever your opinion is, we urge you to base your vote on facts from reliable sources such as:
