Tegan Nash Ollett

Tegan Nash Ollett is an artist, producer, and teacher working in the field of dance and live art. Following the completion of a Bachelor Degree in Dance (QUT), Ollett established a creative focus exploring contemporary dance practice through collaborative performance installations and larger choreographic works. Her work examines our intrinsic connection to one another, and to place, interrogating the frequent disengagement perpetuated by our modern lives; investigating the energetic and aesthetic potential of this concept through choreographic investigations. She has also produced opportunities for others to engage in creative practice by facilitating workshops for youth, artists and the wider community, and as a teacher of contemporary dance practice.

Tegan has produced numerous original works and received the Dance Award at the North Queensland Arts Awards (2015). Her works have featured in galleries and public spaces, including collaborations with Australian visual, sound and projection artists. She has choreographed and performed works for festivals including the Brisbane 2 High Festival and Townsville’s Strand Ephemera 09. In 2015, Tegan choreographed and performed in Twilight, a multisite performance work directed by Cheryl Stock with Dancenorth, which received the 2016 Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Community Dance.

She has collaborated with many artists including Zoe Porter (visual artist), Exploko (sound), BADSKIN (sound composer) Holly Grech Fitzgerald (visual artist) and Isadoré (sound producer). Her most recent independent works include Aura (2019, Townsville); Sinew (2015, Umbrella Studio); Permeate (2017, The Space Dance and Art Centre); Distortion Effect (2018, Townsville, Scotland).

Tegan has worked and trained with a range of Australian artists and her residencies include Guts Dance Alice Springs, Castlemaine State Festival and Lucy Guerin Inc. Tegan is an alum of the Footscray Community Arts Centre’s Emerging Cultural Leaders Program and Theatre Network Australia's Victorian Independent Producers Initiative. Tegan recently launched a performance platform, Live Art Benalla, to present multidisciplinary performance work and support rural/regional artists.
