Jenni Mitchell

I have been painting since age 10 when I undertook formal 'tonal' classes with Lesley Sinclair at the Montsalvat Artists Colony. I then went onto a Fine Art Degree at RMIT and later a Master of Visual Art Monash Unifersity. I've spent a life in the arts by way of travelling around the globe in search of wild nature to share - the challenge of capturing the sublime onto a mear canvas, paper or through photography. Also through the written word I take the challenge to write about the intense beauty of the planet we live upon.

Growing up among the Eltham artists, philosophers, writers and silversmiths had a strong influence in my life. After my mother passed away and with my husband we developed her house into a Fine Art Gallery and teaching school. We have since relocated the studios and gallery to the Victorian Western District and have recently opened the studios and gallery where we will again conduct workshops among the grounds we now care for.

I work in many mediums including oil paint, gouache, watercolour and pastel as well as printmaking with etching and lino cut media.

Also have written extensively about experiencing nature in all her wild and quiet forms.

Held many exhibitions in Australia and overseas and have work held in private and public collections.
