The Goldfields Gothic Festival of Dark Ideas is a weekend of events themed around the dark side of the goldfields.

Inspired by intriguing stories of the past, the gore and gruesome glory surrounding the spiritualists, secret societies, bushrangers, ghost-hoaxers and murderers. We shine light on the dark side of our heritage and history, the region and people who live, and have lived here.

Maldon’s infamous Goldfields Gothic Festival of Dark Ideas runs over 3 days in August. The many eerie events on offer include ghost tours, cemetery tours, themed food experiences, workshops and performances plus talks on death, goldfields history and the shadowy side of life.
