Lot19
Lot19 is a non-profit community organisation, founded to celebrate life. It is evolving, it is permanent, it’s a safe haven for artists. We house many different creative expressions and through this add value to the whole community.
We’re a destination, a venue, a hub, a playspace, and present many iconic events, including Castlemaine Idyll, the Spring Sculpture Show, heartfelt weddings, and our ongoing exhibition program.
The three-acre property consists of 21 artists’ studios, two outdoor stages, a contemporary art gallery, an outdoor sculpture park, Castlemaine Press (open access print-makers facility and exhibition space), Castlemaine Clay (open access ceramics facility), and a literary venue/ bar in the newly settled W-Class Tram.
Lot19 declared a state of Climate Emergency in 2020. This means that we acknowledge the unsustainability of life as it has been lived, and that we need to make changes to secure a sustainable future. Lot19 is built from recycled materials wherever possible, and is powered by 100% green power, with solar feeding into the grid. Over 500 trees and extensive gardens have been planted and nurtured during the development of the site.
Lot19 is committed to sincere and meaningful reconciliation that is led by Indigenous peoples of this land.
Lot19 has complied with Windarring Disability Access – Risk Assessment Process enabling collaborations with the disability community. We are working to constantly improve our infrastructure, and our gallery, tram, main stage, bar, cafe and 2 toilets are all wheelchair accessible. Lot19 strives to better understand, support and respond to needs within the disability community.
