Gallery Kaiela
Gallery Kaiela staged 6 profile artist’s mini exhibitions in 2012 giving the artists an opportunity to produce a small body of work for a small space in the Gallery. The profile show program is designed to provide first time solo exhibitors with the experience of exhibiting, meeting clients, dealing with the media, pricing artworks and all that goes with a professional practice.
Galyan Manu (Happy Camp) which began as a community workshop program has now developed into an in schools program The Gallery has partnered with Melbourne University and the Kaiela Institute to deliver five Galyan Manu programs in schools as pilot projects. The results of the pilots will be examined and used to inform the development of educational resources that can be used in local schools to assist in education about local Aboriginal culture, the arts and history.
We delivered men’s and women’s painting classes throughout the year for both professionally exhibiting artists and beginners alike.
