Workshop: Writing About Your Creative Practice

Last updated on August 13th, 2024 at 12:32 pm

This is an initiative that was delivered by the City of Greater Geelong’s Arts & Culture team on Tuesday 16 May 2023 at Wurriki Nyal on Wadawurrung Country. We thank the City of Greater Geelong for supplying us with this resource.

Having the tools to write about your arts project is vital to applying for funding. Learn how to write about your creative practice in this arts funding workshop with Stacie Bobele, Arts & Culture Officer at the City of Greater Geelong and now Manager, Making Change at RAV. Stacie has a breadth of experience writing for artists, galleries and not-for-profits for research, grant and residency applications and promotion. In this session, she will share tips on identifying what to leave in and what to leave out and writing with a specific audience and outcome in mind.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • How to write for a specific audience and context (looking at purpose, clarity and tone)
  • How to describe your art or project clearly, succinctly and strategically in your artist statement and bio
  • Applying this in a grant writing context, and how to show that your project aligns with grant objectives

Speakers:

  • Stacie Bobele – Former Arts & Culture Officer, City of Greater Geelong (Making Change Manager, RAV)
