Creative Recovery Project Artist

Horsham Rural City Council seeks an artist to collaborate with Natimuk and Quantong communities on a creative recovery project.

Horsham Rural City Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from artists or creative teams to deliver a community-engaged public art project with the communities of Natimuk and Quantong in Victoria’s Wimmera region.

The project is designed to support the ongoing recovery and resilience of the Natimuk and Quantong communities following the fire through a collaborative artist-led process. The appointed artist will work closely with community members to explore local stories, values and aspirations and develop a meaningful creative response informed by community engagement.

We are seeking artists who can demonstrate:

  • Strong artistic practice
  • Community engagement and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and sensitively within a disaster-affected community
  • Understanding of, or experience with, trauma-informed practice
  • Experience working with regional communities

Local and regional connections are highly regarded but are not essential.

Project budget: $60 000 (includes artist fees, workshop production and facilitation and creative response production).
