In 2023, Fish Creek Memorial Hall and RAV Member Prom Recitals partnered to fundraise to bring a grand piano to their local area.
After numerous concerts and other fundraising initiatives, the Grand Hall Grand Piano team from Fish Creek Memorial Hall and Prom Recitals, is very pleased to announce that a grand piano has now been purchased and installed at the Fishy Hall. The local community has been instrumental in making this dream a reality, with many locals donating $500 to be a “key” part of the effort. Keys from of the old upright piano will be etched with the names of these donors who stepped up to be part of the Hall’s history.
Impressive attendance levels at fundraising concert performances, which have included jazz, cabaret, opera, and more were key to the fundraising success. Many donations, of varying amounts, enabled not only the piano purchase but the extras required to keep it in good shape, including a lockable protective cover, a dehumidifier, and a cradle to allow portability.
The pre-loved Yamaha C6 grand piano arrived, after a long trip from its former home in Metung, and rolled through the beautifully renovated hall, while being admired by performers from it’s no drama’s ‘Dances of the Leaves’ rehearsing in the hall for their upcoming show. It will be permanently housed backstage and available for hire and use in Fish Creek Memorial Hall’s main auditorium or for more intimate events in the Hall’s Supper Room.
