Chelsea Hatherall
From the lush surrounds of the regional south-west Victorian town of Cobden, artist Chelsea Hatherall, studied at Victorian College of the Arts/ Melb Uni (postgraduate), Australian Academy of Design in Melbourne (on scholarship) and also Victoria University.
Juggling the dual roles of marketing and business development for start-up Alderwood Speakers and programming for Alderwood Manor (previously known as The Phoenix Project), a converted multi arts and community program that was created as a way to build community resilience after the bushfires of St Patricks Day in 2018. And when Chelsea isn't advocating for emerging artists, she herself paints at Second Nature Studio.
She held her first solo show was in 2010 in Port Melbourne with a body of work that explored the female role in contemporary society (which was written up in the Age).
Chelsea was accepted as a participant in the Young Curators Program at Footscray Community Arts Centre, she completed a gallery internship at the Melbourne Art Rooms (MARS Gallery) and was one of 12 people invited to participate in the 2012 Bite The Big Apple Tour a 10 day intensive arts and culture tour of artistic metropolis New York City. Chelsea was also a recipient of Victoria University's Young Achiever Award as an alumni.
