Woody’s Ukulele School
With Woody’s Ukulele School, everyone can be a musician — learning, creating and making music together.
By Woody’s World Productions
Creative experience available on demand as part of the 2027 Creative Learning Program
The Arts – Music | Personal and Social Capability | Critical and Creative Thinking
In this workshop students experience a crash course in beginner ukulele. With a focus on fun, participation and engagement rather than technical theory and scales, students quickly learn two or three simple chords, strumming patterns and songs, allowing them to make music together from the very first session.
Through games, call-and-response activities, rhythm exercises, singing and ensemble playing, students explore fundamental musical concepts in an accessible and enjoyable way. They learn to accompany themselves while singing, listen and respond to others, keep a steady beat and experience the satisfaction of playing as part of a group.
Workshops can be tailored to different ages, abilities and school timetables, from a 45-minute introduction through to longer sessions that allow students to explore melodies, improvisation and performance. The emphasis is on participation, creativity and confidence, with every student actively involved in making music and working towards a shared musical outcome.
