By Rebecca Russell
Creative experience available on demand as part of the 2027 Creative Learning Program
The Arts – Visual Arts | Sustainability | Critical & Creative Thinking | Personal & Social Capability
In this workshop students Work with clay, gumnuts, seedpods, twigs and other inspiring pieces of nature to make little creatures. Working with Rebecca Russell, skilled at creating rich story environments, the students are encouraged to make a creature and tell it’s story.
Where has it come from? Where might it live?
Students find a habitat for their creature in the garden at school and share their creations with the class. The wider school community are invited to come and view the little creatures in their habitat. An outdoor exhibition.
The workshop is set up as either an outdoor or indoor studio. With materials laid out so the students can move freely through the space. The students work on boards, provided by the artist, and sit on the floor or mats, to make their creatures, if able to do so.
“Thank you!! About 10 different mums approached me at the lunch on Friday to let me know how much they enjoyed small worlds. How special and beautiful it was, how calm, and how having that time with just their kinder child and stopping and being in the moment was amazing! It was obvious to me too as I looked around. So great. You’re booked every year!” – Teacher
