Pinocchio is an epic theatrical adventure, an accessible reimagining of Collodi’s classic tale vividly brought to life through masks, puppetry, physical theatre, music and Commedia dell’Arte. Performed by one highly skilled actor, multiple characters come to life with dynamic transformations inviting playful audience interaction and participation.
A tactile, custom-built wooden set offers a refreshing antidote to our digital overload, immersing students in a magical, analogue world right in their classroom! Original musical compositions, puppetry and movement enrich the experience, creating opportunities to explore curriculum links with Drama, Italian, Music and Dance.
With humour, pathos and plenty of unexpected twists, Pinocchio explores universal themes of resilience, identity and making the right choices while navigating a challenging world. From Prep to VCE Drama and Theatre Studies, this 50 minutes show provides the full theatrical experience for students with high production values in design and performance. Pinocchio offers rich opportunities for discussion, solo performance analysis and creative response while exploring easily accessible Italian culture and language, music and movement, and Ethical, Personal/Social Capabilities.
