Dignified Anger: Stories for a Perilous Now

Chapmans Lane Productions

A moving, theatrical and comical storytelling & music show for our times.

The ancient art of storytelling for modern audiences, a moving, dramatic, comical stage show that segues from stories to theatre, music and protest songs, debunking dangerous ideas – such as survival of the fittest – with life-affirming, universal human stories, accompanied on banjo, quena, concert flute, bodhran and rhythm bones.

“OMG this is good stuff. Class act. Highly recommended. Go!”

Stories of the humble bushman, Bill Harney, who returned from WWI with a hatred of war; of heroic Latin American women who, with Digna Rabia: Dignified Anger, defy mines on their country; the quirky 14th century tale of ‘What do women desire most, above all else?’ (the answer will surprise!) and the unacknowledged history of the Warlpiri-Anmatyerre man on Australia’s two-dollar coin.

“Beautifully structured, important storytelling for our times.”

Superbly performed, intimate, heart-warming and challenging, this show takes the audience through tears and laughter to a hopeful finale.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us? Since 2024 the show has performed at Woodford Folk Festival, the National Folk Festival, and small halls , theatres and house concerts in Queensland, NSW, ACT & Victoria.

The show is technically simple. Minimal props. Can be performed in a variety of venues. If possible we do it without a PA. If a PA is required we bring headset radio mics.

Stage lighting is simply a general lighting wash over stage, no cues.

The quoted fee of $1,750 does not include a technical package – as in, there could be some venues where we need to bring lights/PA, and some venues not. We are presuming this extra can be negotiated on a per venue basis.

We can also offer a post show storytelling workshop (next day), for either a small hands-on group or a talk and Q&A for a larger group. ($500)
