For Community Presenters:

The main aims of this stream are to provide a high quality performance experiences for community presenters. Small halls touring is hard work for the companies, and the shows we offer engage artists that are highly proficient AND passionate in small community touring.

Each year the program offers a diverse offering of programming. From children’s work, to live music and entertaining theatre. Every performance offered has a suite of workshops or engagement activities on offer. We offer an opt-in technical package that allows halls to source equipment locally, or if this is not possible, the artist will bring it with them. For those with equipment in their hall, we look to adapting the performance to be able to utilise this equipment, where possible.

We offer further support in the following areas:

  • Technical planning & hire packages
  • High quality marketing materials and support
  • Regional Arts Victoria provides the touring costs for each performance

There are no restrictions on the type of venue used. Some examples are the local town hall, community theatre, library, church, public bar, gallery, barn, even a lounge room! The program is specifically designed to lower any barriers that might exist for community presenters to present touring productions locally.

Creative Victoria’s Small Regional Presenters fund “ a grant program that supports regional communities to program and present shows in their area “ is currently on hold.

For Producers

Whilst looking for high quality, technically lightweight and accessible works from experienced touring for companies, this program also looks to offer a pathway for regional artists, providing appropriate companies a supported œfirst experience to participate in touring. Artist are asked to submit an Expression of Interest to be a part of the Connecting Places Program See our timeline to view when EOIs open and close, or SUBSCRIBE HERE to get updates.

Selection is assisted by the Connecting Places consultative panel and facilitated by Regional Arts Victoria. Once shortlisted, a menu of shows on offer will be made available in print and email format. This is sent to our network of community presenters, with timelines around registering interest.

Once interest is gathered, we offer a tour coordination service that develops and delivers a touring project throughout Victoria. This service generally includes: the building and confirmation of tour itineraries, facilitation of relationships with producers and presenters, budgeting, booking logistics, contracting, invoicing and marketing coordination. Producers are expected to undertake the pre-production responsibilities of a touring project.
