Threshold Public Art Project

Mount Alexander Shire Council invites artists to submit their interest in creating a permanent installation in Castlemaine

Mount Alexander Shire Council invites artists to submit their interest in creating a permanent installation at the corner of Templeton Street and Frederick Street, Castlemaine. This proposed artwork will mark a moment of arrival at the entryway to the Frederick Street and Mechanics Lane streetscape redevelopment.

With the aim to establish a vibrant arts and cultural hub, Council has proposed a number of commissions for artists to create both temporary and permanent works in the streetscape, the first of which is the Threshold Public Art Project on the Templeton Street kerbside.

We welcome applications from artists with a committed arts practice, and who have relevant or transferrable experience delivering permanent public art commissions.

This proposed commission sits alongside a series of commissions led by Dja Dja Wurrung enterprise, DJANDAK, embedding Dja Dja Wurrung (Djaara) stories and cultural values in public art throughout the development.
