Zaza Douglas

Zaza Douglas is a multidisciplinary artist based in the rural landscapes of North East Victoria, whose creative practice spans painting, ceramics, and textiles. Deeply influenced by the surrounding natural environment, the work draws from the textures, colours, and rhythms of the bush. Zaza paints layering organic forms and expressive brushstrokes to capture the movement and energy of the landscape. The compositions often reflect a balance between abstraction and observation, translating the essence of nature into colour, shape, and texture. In ceramics, this connection to the natural world becomes tactile. Clay is shaped and textured to echo the forms and surfaces found outdoors — vessels and sculptural pieces that embody the raw, imperfect beauty of the environment. Through these mediums, Zaza invites viewers to slow down, observe, and reconnect with the subtle details of the natural world — finding harmony in its patterns, imperfections, and quiet transformations.
