Jacqueline Christians
Jacqueline is an contemporary Australian painter living on the Bass Coast of Victoria. Her art is a response to place—shaped by the rugged coastline, changing skies, and quiet rhythms of the natural world that surrounds her. Influenced by the vivid colours and emotional intensity of Fauvism and Expressionism, Jacqueline’s approach to landscape is instinctive and energetic. She embraces bold, often unexpected palettes and loose, gestural brushwork to convey not just what the land looks like, but how it feels to be within it. Jacqueline’s work explores the intersection of memory, place, and expression in paint. Her works are derived from site sketches and memory working in acrylic, inks, printmaking and mixed media. A career in advertising and marketing as a lead designer, prompted ideas as an arts worker. She has initiated and directed many artists run projects including publishing Raw Womens Diary, Hidden in the Hills artists book, directing and curating Up Gallery Sassafras and completing several mural projects. Enabling, mentoring and building capacity for artists to get exposure and exhibit works is her primary focus.
