Catherine is a Textile Artist and workshop facilitator, living and working on Wadawurrung Country in central Victoria. She has spent a lifetime sewing, with a strong interest in reusing fabrics and repurposing clothing – creating beautiful new things out of preloved items. For almost a decade in the 1990’s Cath was co-creator of The Sun Clothes Shop in Melbourne’s Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. She created collections out of chenille bedspreads, table cloths, tea towels and vintage sleeping bags. Cath has now made a return to full time textile work after a career change spanning two decades. Working from her garden based studio, she creates soft sculpture jewellery, small objects and wall hangings, as well as clothing and accessories. Table linens, once lovingly created are given new life, stitched and embroidered emerging as wrist adornments, earrings and necklaces. Clothes are cut up and sewn back together to create a unique range of basics with character and interest.
