The Sound Doctor presents Bonny Doon (USA)

US indie-folk rockers Bonny Doon offer a rare chance to see international talent in the Anglesea local hall.

US folk-rockers Bonny Doon create the sunniest mix of alternative folk, alt-country, indie pop and pastoral psychedelia – and they’re bringing their distinct sound to The Sound Doctor in June.

After a stint as Waxahatchee’s backing band, Bonny Doon have subtly sharpened their musicianship on a laid-back album suffused in positive vibes. Their music may be laid back, but it’s certainly not lazy. There’s a graceful melodic sense and an instrumental blend influenced by 1970s soft rock, infused with a focus that keeps the work of this dynamic three piece utterly engaging. Their latest musical journey, last year’s hit album Let There Be Music, is one that has big payoffs for devoted followers and undeniable rewards for anyone just stumbling across this band for the first time.

Guest support act is Naarm/Melbourne-based folk chameleon Jess Ribeiro, hot off the release of her new album Summer of Love.

This show promises to be a sweet night of songs and pure joy – and a rare chance to see international talent in the local hall.
