Ensemble Volante present Regermination: Songs of Solace and Renewal in the Australian landscape.
Conceived in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, these six glorious contemporary art songs and a solo piano piece celebrate a deep connection to nature and the restorative, consoling effect it has on the troubled mind. Works include song cycle Leaving The Nest’, a joyful dedication to some of Australia’s most iconic birdlife, and Grand Ridge’ an ode to the stunning views of a winding Gippsland road.
It is Ensemble Volante’s intention to take the listener on a journey where they can find solace, calm, and most of all, heartfelt hope for the future within a turbulent, ever-changing world.
Each art song features the powerful poetic words of lyricist Grazia Marin, soaring melodies sung by critically-acclaimed soprano Piera Dennerstein, alongside the striking yet sensitive piano refrains from composer and pianist Alisha Redmond.
Ensemble Volante is comprised of Alisha Redmond (composer/pianist), Piera Dennerstein (soprano) and Grazia Marin (visual artist/lyricist). Formed in 2018, their work seeks to inspire the listener with a sense of wonder and immersion in the natural world through song.
