I’m Von Hep, an emerging artist based in Ballarat, Wadawurrung Country.

My work is deeply rooted in the aesthetics of 1950s and 1960s commercial art, drawing inspiration from the vibrant colours, bold design, and dynamic spirit of mid-century style. Influences from classic sci-fi and horror movies, Beat Generation music, and pop culture are ever-present in my pieces, which reflect a nostalgic yet contemporary vision.

Exhibition: Mid Century Mayhem
My upcoming exhibition showcases this blend, featuring iconic figures like the Creature from the Black Lagoon, flying saucers, tiki culture, and even Mexican wrestlers. My goal is to evoke a sense of familiarity and wonder, inviting viewers to explore the intersection of retro culture and visual art in a vivid and imaginative way. Think of the music by The Cramps, but on canvas!
