A must see and experience event conceived of by Ballarat fashionista Kat Pengelly of Koshka – Art Fuelled Fashion featuring fabulous handmade shoes by Preston Zly.
Radius is excited to host a left-field fashion parade by Koshka – Art Fuelled Fashion, featuring live music by electro pop duo, Square Wave Bounce and a dance party with DJs Cosmik Frequencies, Clay Ravin and Ezc and Dunkbot on October 14th.
Kat has created two new collections called ‘Fashion Canvas’ and ‘Wacky Trackies’ that she will showcase alongside some fun fashion statements from previous collections.
Joining forces with Preston Zly, creators of divine shoes, the parade will deliver handmade head-to-toe fantastic fashion statements.
Fashion Canvas combines two of Kat’s creative interests; fashion and art. Kat trained as a fine-art painter at the University of Ballarat in the 90’s. Even though her major was painting, her final year folio consisted predominantly of costumes and performance art. Further studies at the Melbourne School of Fashion in 2009 consolidated her skills in pattern making and sewing. Kat’s main practice, to this day, is original fashion theatre and wearable art.
The concept of Fashion Canvas is taking it to the streets. Many people have no interest or inclination to visit an art gallery. Applying original art to clothing that is worn in public places and spaces exposes people to art in a non-threatening and engaging way. Fashion Canvas was made possible by a City of Ballarat Creative Inspiration Grant administered by Regional Arts Victoria.
Based in the Bridge Mall, Ballarat; Kat has painting and sewing studios adjacent to each other. The studio is shared with Linda Franklin who is set to open part of the space as BRIDGE MALLed Gallery, an exciting development for the Ballarat arts community.
Fashion and shoes may be bought and ordered on the night.
