Jeremy Forbes and Brett Davies: Shared Ground
Shedism Meets The Ephemeral
Opening Celebration – Friday, May 9,
9 – 5pm
Exhibition runs Saturday May 10 – 25
Sat/Sun 11 – 4pm
Brett Igmus Davies has been exploring the use of movement in his sculptures. Inspired by the works of Alexander Calder, this exhibition will feature sculptural mobiles made from wood, wire, and found objects that will gently dance in the airspace above his more renowned stationary wood carvings.
Jeremy ‘Jez’ Forbes continues his formidable ‘shedism’ movement with exploration and inspiration in Kyoto and Central Victoria, as well as a focus on nostalgia through Cuisenaire rods, boardgames, and colour.
‘Shedding Verse’ is an extra-special element of this exhibition: Jez’s collaboration with poet Noa Schaerf-Trauner, who has written poems for a selection of Jez’s paintings that will be displayed next to the artworks. Noa will also read a selection of her poems on opening night. Finally, Jez will present a collection of paintings from his years of being inspired by sheds and his painting journey — Shedism: A Movement Is Born, A Movement Grows.
