IMPROVAGANZA SHOW by Impro Melbourne

Touring as part of the 2023 Arts & Education Program (regional schools only)

IMPROVISATION | DRAMA | CRITICAL & CREATIVE THINKING

IMPROVAGANZA  is an extravaganza of improvisation that inspires creativity and demonstrates theatre making through improvisation. Built around the fundamental skills of improvisation acceptance, spontaneity and storytelling IMPROVAGANZA demonstrates and explains how improvisation works. There are practical tips students can apply immediately to their own improvisational work, including Theatresports and other performance areas.

Over the past 14 years with RAV, IMPROVAGANZA has become a ‘must have’ addition for teachers with clear curriculum links, as well as a tool to take back into the classroom in the development of interpersonal skills, personal learning and communication.

It is also an important tool for all the schools interested in engaging in Impro Melbourne’s Theatresports Schools Challenge which is run annually.

IMPROVAGANZA opens with an entertaining illustration of “basic impro” terminology so that students and teachers develop a shared terminology and understanding. Students can see these skills in action as the “improvisers” create spontaneous scenes using audience suggestions, their own crazy ideas…and volunteers!

To further enrich the experience, you can add a 60 or 90 minute Drama Improvisation Workshop for Years 5-10 or our specific VCE Drama focused workshops for Years 11 and 12.

Please note: Councils, Venues and Community Presenters are welcome to book through the Arts & Education program. Contact the team [email protected] to confirm the program fee.
