Acrobatics meets stand-up comedy.

Circus | Physical Theatre
A refreshing and uplifting conversation between three generations. Funny and heartful, these powerhouse women win you over within minutes of hitting the stage. Wearing multi-coloured hand-knitted costumes they share their lives and ideas while holding each other up both literally and metaphorically. They challenge gender conventions with kindness and humour and entertain without arrogance. A combination of words spoken while upside down, standing on shoulders or midway through a backflip. The full range of emotions are explored where the audience can join in the laughing, crying and screaming. Sometimes at the same time.
Casting Off is important: it suggests that the voices and bodies of women of all ages are worthy interesting and even funny. That we should be seen and heard, that we are dynamic, courageous and hilarious.
This show can conclude with an informal Q+A, and at no extra cost offers a “laugh and craft” session to connect with communities. Participants are invited to bring their current craft
projects for an hour of talking textiles. A connection with community through a shared passion of yarn-based craft.
Other details
A Good Catch formed in 2017 with the aim to experiment with circus. The three women at its heart are Debra Batton, Sharon Gruenert and Spenser Inwood. Brought together by life’s adversities and a pinch of serendipity, all three began acrobatics as children and enjoy distinct careers in circus and physical theatre, individually performing with prestigious companies including Cirque du Soleil, Flying Fruit Fly Circus, Legs on the Wall, and Circus Oz to name just a few.
Together, they seek to nurture their own creative voice with a feminist tone and a pro-active attitude, re-inventing the collective approach to devised performance: aiming to experiment without fear of failure, without adhering to genre expectations, and with curiosity about what circus can be.
Suitable for small halls and community spaces. Details to be discussed upon booking.
There is two moments of language that can be removed if the presenter wishes.
