Our 2021 Connecting Places program is proudly supported by:
The main aim of this program is to provide high-quality performance experiences to community presenters. Small halls touring is both challenging and rewarding for artists, and the shows we offer engage companies that are highly proficient and passionate about touring to small regional communities.
Each year the program offers a diverse range of programming options, from children’s work to live music and entertaining theatre. There are also a suite of workshops and engagement activities on offer alongside touring shows. Additionally, community presenters can opt-in for a technical equipment package when making their bookings. This package supports halls with limited technical equipment: the artist receives a modest fee to bring sound and lighting gear with them! For community presenters with equipment in their hall, we help artists adapt their performances to be able to utilise the available equipment as much as possible.
We offer further support in the following areas:
- Technical planning & hire packages
- High quality marketing materials and support
- Regional Arts Victoria covers the touring costs (accommodation, travel, etc.) for each performance
There are no restrictions on the type of venue that work can be presented in. We’ve sent shows to the local town hall, community theatre, library, church, public bar, gallery, barn, even a lounge room! The program is specifically designed to lower any barriers that might exist for community presenters to present touring productions locally.
Creative Victoria’s Small Regional Presenters fund “ a grant program that supports regional communities to program and present shows in their area “ is currently on hold.

This program seeks high quality, technically adaptable and accessible works from experienced touring artists and companies. We encourage applications from regional artists, and want to support emerging producers and companies in regional Victoria to tour locally and across regions. Artists and companies are asked to submit an Expression of Interest to be a part of the Connecting Places Program. Visit this page for details or subscribe here to get updates.
The Connecting Places consultation panel supports the selection of touring works for the program, facilitated by Regional Arts Victoria. Once shortlisted, a program of annual touring shows will be promoted to our Community Presenter Network.
Once interest from presenters is gathered, we offer a tour coordination service that develops and delivers a touring project throughout Victoria. This service generally includes: building and confirming tour itineraries, facilitating relationships between producers and presenters, budgeting, booking logistics, contracting, invoicing and marketing coordination. Producers are expected to undertake the pre-production responsibilities of a touring project.
