Loops Live by Creates Live

LoopsLive! is a hands on project that sees students getting creative by using a loop station to compose, improvise and perform. It integrates technology and music, making it engaging and relevant to students. The program comes in two parts: a one-hour whole-school performance and 40-minute class-based workshops. The performance features an experienced multi-instrumentalist showcasing the capabilities and wide range of techniques that can be utilised through looping. It features body percussion, hand percussion, vocal effects, beatboxing, keyboard, ukulele, violin and kazoo. The performance is interactive and utilises audience participation. The class-based workshops give students the opportunity to get hands-on with a loop station, via iPad software. Students are explicitly taught the technology skill-set required to use the software. They will have structured tasks, aligned to the Victorian Curriculum, that support their learning while leaving plenty of room for creativity and individual expression.
