Amanda Gibson, one of Regional Arts Victoria’s Creative Arts Recovery Facilitators, has been working very hard across the Mitchell Shire with Ausdance and our Education & Families team to bring The Alice Project to Kilmore during Home is Where the Hall is celebrations – taking you down the rabbit hole to a whole afternoon of adventures. The Alice Project, celebrating 150 years of Alice in Wonderland, was developed with VicHealth to get Victorians moving through art!
Kilmore, one of Victoria’s oldest towns, is 66 km NE of Melbourne and was seriously affected by the Black Saturday fires, only to be devastated again by fire in 2014 – so it is well and truly time for a celebration. What better way than with Ausdance and a Wonderland Tea Party – g =uaranteed to get participants up and moving!
Wonderland is everywhere and this project brings together many different groups in the community – adults and children alike will have fun dressing up, playing games and moving. The participants will dance on footprints, make their own fabulous Mad Hatter hat and learn the Lobster Quadrille. And of course everyone will get to join in for the Mad Hatters tea party, made by the Broadford Country Women’s Association.
The afternoon will wrap up with the hall will erupting into full swing – all joining in with a big community dance of the Lobster Quadrille!
Don’t be late for a very important date! Hop over to the Alice Project in Kilmore on Sunday 28 November.
