Regional Arts Victoria welcomes the announcement that we have been awarded the 2017 Victoria Day Award for the Arts.

Director of Projects Esther Anatolitis accepted the award on behalf of the organisation at today’s ceremony at the Melbourne Town Hall.

Executive Director and CEO of Regional Arts Victoria Joe Toohey said the award was recognition of the work of not just Regional Arts Victoria but the thousands of artists, organisations and volunteers who contribute to the arts in regional Victoria.

“As an organisation that works to inspire art across the state, we are absolutely thrilled to receive an award with such a clear emphasis on Victorian culture and achievement,” Mr Toohey said.

“We are also honoured to be in such good company, with the Bendigo Art Gallery and the Australian Tapestry Workshop winning the Award for the Arts in 2016 and 2015 respectively.”

“Victoria is full of creative people and organisations doing important and exciting work.”

“To all of our Members; the artists we work with; and the audiences and participants in regional Victorian communities in Victoria who help bring arts experiences to life: thank you for being part of this with us.”

The Victoria Day Awards celebrate Victoria’s foundation at the time of separation from New South Wales on 1 July 1851. The awards are intended specifically to reward and encourage Victorians in the areas of community and public service.
