Posted in Communities on 03/Nov/2016 03:10

In 2017, the Arts & Education program will take performances and workshops from leading arts companies on tour across regional Victoria. The program includes the National Gallery of Victoria’s Pasifika Art (Siu I Moana), Ilbijerri Theatre’s Marguk Workshop Series, 15 minutes from Anywhere’s The Yellow Wave, Windmill Theatre’s The Ballad of Pondlife McGurk, FoRT by the physical theatre company Asking For Trouble and the Hitchcock adaption Three Birds by Three Birds Theatre. These shows use art to tackle important issues, such as respectful relationships, immigration and identity, and Indigenous culture.

Accompanying the tours are 14 On Call shows and residencies that will be available to schools throughout the year, covering poetry, music, design and technologies, storytelling, drama, visual arts and creative workshops from leading arts companies and independent artists, such as Polyglot Theatre, Impro Melbourne, Furals HQ, Outer Urban Projects, Trash Puppets, Arena Theatre Company, and Shrewd Brass Quintet.

The program provides subsidies for schools disadvantaged by remoteness, disaster or specific learning needs, to ensure access to the arts for all Victorian students, with up to 75% off ticket prices available to eligible schools.
