Vessel

Regional and independent, Vessel, develops innovative and dynamic arts projects in theatre and community engagement. Based in South Gippsland, Victoria, Australia - Vessel works locally, nationally and internationally to create distinctive programs and partnerships.

In 2014 Vessel partnered successfully with the National Celtic Festival Portarlington to creatively develop the first stage of a theatre program for the festival. This included partnering to bring Thomas Conway, dramaturg of Druid Theatre, Galway to Australia to work with the Vessel ensemble on a series of readings for the stage.

A sponsoship by Theatre Newtork Victoria underpinned a playwrights round table meeting for writers from across Victoria during Thomas' visit.

In 2015 Vessel will partner with the Australian Theatre Forum to bring Jim Culleton, Artistic Director Fishamble Theatre Dublin, to the Sydney Festival to outline his project Tiny Plays for Ireland - the catalyst for Vessel's PLAY FOR AUSTRALIA project.

PLAY FOR AUSTRALIA will seek to train communtiies to write very short plays. The project is in development and will be piloted during 2015 for a proposed national roll out in late 2015 and 2016.

Vessel seeks to engage locally, nationally and internationally and plans exist for the 2015 National Celtic Festival to develop the theatre program further.

Recently Vessel Creative Director, Jim Lawson, travelled to Kalgoorlie for the Regional Arts Australia Summit.
