Lorena Carrington

Lorena investigates fairy tales in her silhouetted photographic works. She has an interest in the history and scholarship of fairy tales, particularly the fluctuating occurrence of independent female protagonists as societal norms changed over time. We have lost so many old tales in which girls and women sought their own adventures and defeated their own monsters, not through violence, but through intelligence, resourcefulness and compassion. It’s time they were rediscovered.
