Surfing, music and literature are what inspire Harrison Kewley, a 19-year old Port Fairy writer who has recently completed the Australian Talented Youth Project's 10-day long mentoring program held in Canberra.
The Australian Talented Youth Project provides a multi-arts mentoring program for young artists with talent in the areas of music, dance, visual art, creative writing, film production and drama.
The program, hosted by the Australian National University, promotes development of participants creative skills and while Harrison recieved his place in the program as a writer he also had to act as part of the public performance that takes place at the end of the event.
Students are paired with well-known artists including this year international pianist, Dr Geoffrey Lancaster, soprano, Louise Page, acclaimed jazz musician, John Mackey and filmmaker, Che Baker.
The ten-day program has a particular focus on developing the skills and talent of young people from remote and rural areas of Australia who would not normally have access to established artistic networks and training opportunities.
