beautiful project

Jo Grant: 26th Jun 09

This was a lovely project to work on - we were blessed with such a great day and such skilled knitters and crocheters.  Thanks to everyone who made something for this wonderful project, especially the Panmure community participants.

NB: we'll be installing the project in Port Fairy in November so those that missed out can see the work that went into this great project.  Stay tuned!

Mammoth Wooly Event in Panmure a hoot

After driving countless kilometres through the bare, green hills of the south west, it was a real treat to stop in Panmure and see all the incredible knitted animals, minerals and vegetables that festooned the banks of the large black waterhole (known affectionately by locals as ‘the big hole').

By the end of the afternoon I too had developed a deep affection for the hole and also for the wonderful creatures that littered its banks (or floated ominously in its waters). I particularly liked the rat swallowing snake work which was simultaneously humorous and moving (though not literally of course).

The floating, crocheted, giant platypus/crocodile was however literally moving and, had it not been tethered to the pier, would surely have attacked the numerous small children that played carelessly on the banks of the water hole.

It's great to hear that all this inspiring work can be seen again in Port Fairy in November.

Pleased we visited!

We were so pleased we visited the Big Hole for the opening of such a fantastic project. The day was perfect to show case the knitted and Crochet works which were planned to fit so perfect into the landscape of this lovely place.

What a great project this has been. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching it froma distance and have been keeping people in my region up to date. They are totally inspired and hatching plans for a knitting project of their own.

Magical

What an incredible project.

All the pieces are incredible, but the nest, spiderwebs, tiny flowers and toadstools "growing" from the rocks are completely magical.

Thanks for sharing these photos of such an imaginative addition to the landscape.

beautiful work!

I loved the picnic ensemble and the path across the water - it was lyrical and creative! A wonderful way to bring a community together.

What an exciting way to celebrate a beautiful location with colour and humour!  I am so inspired, I want to yarn bomb my neighbourhood too.  Love the warm covers for the rocks. Congratulations on a fabulous project.
