Each year, Education and Families works hard to source funding for the Primary and Secondary Schools' Subsidy Program to assist remote and disadvantaged schools with access to quality arts performances.
There is high demand for the subsidy program, so in order for Education and Families to distribute funds equitably the following guidelines have been established:
Subsidy Guidelines:
- Schools will be assessed for subsidy support against four key criteria:
- remoteness and access to Melbourne
- school enrolment numbers
- socioeconomic disadvantage
- special needs - Subsidy is generally awarded for between 10-50% off the minimum performance fee or ticket price; or toward transport costs if schools cluster for a performance. Please note that Education and Families has access to a finite amount of funding so cannot guarantee the success of all subsidy applications.
- A school may apply for subsidy with up to four performances or workshops a year; however they must re-apply with each performance/workshop booking, even if school details have not changed.
- It is a condition of subsidy that schools submit an evaluation report after each performance and upon request, may be asked to prepare a letter outlining their experience of the program.
Applications for subsidy are made as part of the booking process. When booking an Education and Families event and applying for subsidy, keep in mind that there is a six week administrative turn around for subsidy applications.
