How much space do the performers need?
Each performance/workshop has specific space requirements, but as a minimum please ensure that your venue allows:
- 6m x 6m x 3.5m (height)
- access to power
- Most companies require access to the venue 60 minutes prior to the performance to bump-in and warm-up.
- Dance and circus performances require suitable safe flooring (no carpets or concrete).
How much does a performance/workshop cost?
Performances are charged at a per student ticket price, with a minimum fee allocated to each performance. The minimum cost for each performance (most based on attendance of 130 students) is noted with the touring details.
Most On the Road performances are priced at $6 per student with a minimum fee of $780 + GST. This amount does not take into account subsidies a school may be eligible for.
Workshops costs vary and are a flat fee.
For performing/community arts centres, school holiday programs or festival events, the cost is negotiated separately.
What if my students are disadvantaged or live in remote areas? What if we don't have the minimum numbers for a performance?
RAV recognises special circumstances and administers subsidy programs for remote and disadvantaged schools. Schools may apply for up to 50% off the performance or workshop fee, or toward transport costs for a cluster event.
Details and guidelines for the Education and Families subsidy programs can be found here.
Why can't I always be given a firm date with my original booking?
Education and Families is committed to providing quality arts and education experiences to young people across Victoria. To create a tour that is both wide-reaching and viable, it is necessary to wait for a majority of bookings to be made before scheduling tours. This ensures that as many venues as possible can be given dates within the tour. Your first preferences will be given as often as possible!
Productions may only visit regions where there are sufficient bookings to make the tour feasible. We therefore recommend you choose a second preference when making your booking request, and regret that we may not always be able to visit your venue.
Why are some performances only available for a few weeks?
Some companies and artists are only available at certain times of the year due to other commitments or the fact that they come from interstate. Tours often sell out, so to avoid disappointment and assist the scheduling process, please book early.
Why can't I log in to the website?
RAV is currently reviewing our online booking systems in order to make them as efficient and easy to use as possible. While we are doind this, we ask that you use our 'analogue form' linked here.
How do you process payments?
RAV will invoice you after the performance/workshop has occurred and based on your post-performance attendance survey.
If you have not completed your Attendance Record, your venue will be charged on the estimated number of audience attendance.
