Delegates applaud the Regional Arts Victoria 2009 Symposium in Geelong!

RAV Symposium Panel

Regional Arts Victoria’s biennial conference was held over 2-3 October 2009 in Geelong, Victoria drew close to 100 delegates from all over the country to examine the role of the arts in dealing with adversity, responding to recovery and influencing change.

More than a dozen projects were presented by artists, arts groups and health organisations, with a range of performances, installations and discussions focusing on arts practice.

The 2009 Regional Arts Victoria Symposium was assisted by the local steering committee comprising the City of Greater Geelong, Courthouse Arts, Diversitat, Headspace and G21 Geelong Region Alliance. The event simply could not have happened without the generous support of these organisations, as well as the support of Regional Arts Australia and regional arts organisations from around Australia.

"I found the speakers ... extremely inspiring and really connected with what they had to say, they opened my mind to new possiblities and ways to utilise the arts in times of crisis. Thank you for an excellent event."
- Lisa Rudd, Symposium participant

Stay tuned for more feedback from the conference, including footage from the Plenary Sessions on the day!
